And this is why I don't teach kindergarten.

I might need a program
For the past five days every free moment has been spent doing this.
And don't let the one minute timer fool you. It's like potato chips, you don't just play one game. That one minute turns into 20, then 40, then 2 hours later you wonder when the sun went down. It's so bad that every time I closed my eyes today I saw the little gems sliding into combinations.
And just when I finally find the power to quit, up pops that little red notification flag letting me know someone just beat my high score. And I'm sucked back in...
I really think this has become an addiction, all I can think about is the next time I'm going to play, and make deals with myself, like "If I get 25K or more I'll quit" but then I get 25k and want to try higher. It's a good thing the young un can feed himself! And lest you think the Mr. is neglected, he plays on the downstairs computer when he thinks no one is watching!

Six Word Saturday
I just don't have the words.
There's nothing more frustrating for me than staring at a blank text box. But for the past few weeks, every time I start a post it just kind of fizzles out before I publish. Maybe it's the end of the year-itis that so many of my students are on. Maybe my brain has started summer vacation. Maybe I'm feeling un-interesting and un-inspired. Maybe my life is moving at such a fast pace that my fingers can't keep up. Whatever it is, I've got a half a dozen drafts of blogging bleh that I just can't seem to pull from the dregs.

Reason #375
I love him for his mad conducting skillz!
Last night the hubs had his end of year concert. His band kids got him a lovely gift basket filled with home baked cookies, Starbucks gift cards, and sweatbands. Seems he gets a little warm under those stage lights and his woodwinds wanted to ensure they didn't end up in the "splash zone". He rocked it out ;)

Six Word Saturday
Epic Challenge Finals, bring it on!
Remember this butt-kicking? Well, today marks six weeks since my first excruciating round. Which means it's time to do it again and see how much I improved.
Also on the agenda for today: an 8 A.M. baseball game that requires us to be at the ballpark by 7:15 for a proper warm up, and plenty of "recovery" time.

Mother's Day Fun
I got to spend Mother's Day with my two favorite fellas and one super delicious baseball boy. As is our "tradition" since we moved to Austin, Mother's Day is spent at the ballpark. Following a lovely breakfast in bed I got to lounge around until game time. Let me say that 2:05 is not the ideal game time, as sweating in those metal seatbacks is not as appealing as it sounds. But, sweat I did (and sun-burn too), all to see 7 innings of play by Colleen's future husband, Josh Hamilton.
Since it was all about the mom's that day, and it was sure to be some cheap fun, I talked one of my favorite mom friends into spending the afternoon right beside us. We even got roses (that did not hold up well in the heat!) as we entered the park.
I was a woman on a mission to get a picture of Mr. Hamilton, and a pinch on the butt, if I could get close enough :) Alas, the metal barrier prevented the pinch, but aren't we cute?
The Mr, never one to be outdone, also got a couple of autographs and his own prom picture with Josh. If you're not familiar with the amazing testimony of Josh Hamilton, he is quite an incredible guy. He signed autographs for every single person that waited outside of the locker room, all the while wrapped in ice packs. Thanks to him, we left all smiles.
What a great day, thanks guys!

Happy Mother's Day
“A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.” -Washington Irving
Six Word Saturday
Busy trying to reclaim my life.
It's been over a week since I posted. In that week I've given 2 TAKS test, worked concession duty, watched 3 little league games, sat through 4 practices, completed 4 crossfit WODs, dipped 3 dozen strawberries, attended 2 birthday parties, and finally, today, took off an afternoon to rest. Then returned to the ball park for a 6 inning nail biter that lasted till 9:45. Remind me when I get to do my stuff again?
I am counting down the days (17 if you're curious) till it's nothing but pool-side reading and popsicles. When I'm not fighting the morning commute to drop the young un off 2 blocks from school. When flip flops are de rigour and I don't have to wear a horrid picture ID around my neck. When the hours will be punctuated by a lifeguard whistle and not a school bell.
Oh summer, please take me away!

P.S. Here's an update on my brother. So excited to see his progress.
