Six Word Saturday

My brain is on summer vacation.

I finished my conference and can now throw the alarm clock in the closet for another 2.5 months. This is the stuff that gets me through the rest of the year, sleeping till 10:00, chilaxing by the pool with a little summer reading and an adult beverage. Any suggestions for my reading list?

Do you appreciate Newbury Award books and authors?
(Cuz maybe you want AWAY from that whilst you vacay.)
(Or perhaps you've already read everything I would recommend.)
I loved Elijah of Buxton, and My Louisiana Sky (also an xlnt movie.)

If you can find Mother Carey's Chickens it is an ancient gentle read that I adore.
And Philip Gulley stuff, fo shizzle.
And Herriot. (Herriott?)
James. The vet, as in the "All Things..." books.

Stay away from Oprah's recommendations (that's MY recommendation, anywhoo.) It'll make you want to cut your wrists in despair and time wasted.

Oh how fun to give our brains a summer off. That would be awesome.

I like anything by Faith Sullivan, Lisa See, etc. I did read The Good Earth, which was an Oprah pick, but it was the only one I could get through. Enjoyed it though. Happy summer reading!!

I hope you enjoy it! I have no idea what you like, hmmm, let's see...

Life of Pi - I think anyone would enjoy this.
Thousand Splendid Suns - sad, but good
Special Topics of Calamity Physics - If you're interesting in something good, but a little different

Hello! The book we ALL read at work (seriously...EVERYONE!) is White Tiger by Aravind Adiga. If I am done with it in Seattle you can take it home. Also very good is Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. The author came and spoke at work with her ARMED guards. Pretty interesting.

I may just email our FIVE PAGE reading list! It is crazy, but covers every genre you could think of.

Sleeping until 10?! Holy crap! Don't you have kids? My kids won't let me sleep past 7:00!! But it is better than the 5:00 normal time. And as much as I love my planner, it's so nice not to have to worry about looking in it to see if I'm busy. Because, um...I'm not!!
