Company's a comin'

We're expecting a houseguest this weekend. An univited and unwanted one. Come on Ike, don't you have better things to do?

Things to do before he arrives:

1. Bring all the patio/bbq stuff inside. We've lost our share in smaller storms.

2. Stock up on water/batteries ( the hubby has a tendency to over prepare us for these events)

3. Locate the flashlights.

4. Laundry (ok, so maybe this won't be affected by the hurricane, but it does need to get done!)

For entertainment:
I'm a reader and have some lovely new paperbacks just waiting to be read (and some crafty projects to keep me busy). As for the boys, not sure what they'll do if anything interrupts the power supply...perhaps sleep?
Any suggestions? How would you ride out the storm?

I'm always cleaning everything before I think the power might go out, just in case. I will be praying for all of you in the hurricane's path..can't believe how close it is to you. Do you have one of those reading lights? The one you hook on your book so you can read at night? I love mine. Good luck and prayers your way!

this is one of the reasons I am glad not to live there anymore....no hurricanes in Washington! =)

Get some bags of ice and stick them in the freezer....a packed freezer is going to stay cold longer. We are going to get a little generator for the fridge and maybe one lamp and a radio. We don't want to invest a huge amt of money, but we were out 29 hours with Gustav and we were so worried about food. Hang in there ....we are praying....play monopoly or something....one kid at school said that is why he loves hurricanes...the tv goes off and the whole family plays games.
