P is for Panthers

I spent all day Saturday (15 hours!) filming the season finale of Friday Night Lights. Unlike our usual shoots, this one involved nearly 2000 people and some pretty windy weather. We arrived at Memorial stadium bright and early for our 8:00 A.M. call time and proceeded to wait in line for nearly 45 minutes to check -in. We made a mad dash through wardrobe, grabbed breakfast and headed out to the very bright, very chilly morning.
src=The first hour or so was spent waiting for the cameras to be set up and for everyone to figure out what shot they wanted. You can see from the picture, we were pretty bundled up. I'm sure the Starbucks inside the stadium had one of their best days ever! After the entrances were filmed, we changed seats to start the game. I was lucky enough to sit along the 50 yard line, just down from Connie Britton, who plays Tammy Taylor on the show.

For the next 12 hours we watched the same plays being filmed from every possible angle. We cheered, we booed, we tried desperately to stay warm.

At the end of the night, as the lights went out on Panther football for another season, all that remained was a little blue paint.

Clear Eyes! Full Hearts! Can't lose!

src= It's finally here! Season 3 of FNL premiers tonight on Direct TV 101 at 9:00. How excited am I? I've missed my on set time with my yummy-to-look at FNL husband, Kyle Chandler (Coach Eric Taylor) this summer, and have had to suffice by watching last season's episodes on Tivo. And that new trailor has me humming "Devil Town" all day. (listen to it in my playlist) I mean really, haven't you missed this?

 src=
src= src= src= src=Well, wait no longer! Have I got a treat to get you all caught up on the drama that is Dillon Football (especially those non-Direct TV customers who won't see this until January 2009). I will send one lucky person their very own copy of this:

This is my favorite season (and not just because we're in half the episodes)! For instance, Lyla's Baptism in the Season Premier?

And just think when you watch it, you can tell people you know (and by know, I mean you read the blog of) someone in the show. How much better can it get? Well, I also have a special treat in addition to the DVDs, something you can only get by being a part of the FNL experience. So what do you have to do? Simply leave me a comment letting me know your favorite character/episode. I will ask my BFF the random number generator to select a winner at midnight (cst) on Monday, Oct 6th. Good Luck!

Just another day

We spent this weekend back on the set of Friday Night Lights. The hubby got to take his real life band students to the game to perform as the Dillon Panther band. The young un and I just did what we always do...cheer for some football! (And I of course swoon over my FNL boyfriend, Kyle Chandler)

Things that made me smile

As I recover from the lovely sinus infection/sore throat I acquired from my students, I thought I'd share some things I found in the wonderful world of etsy:
 src=

  • I am obsessed with Amy Butler fabric and this adorable apron from Annie's Attic made from her lotus print just might find a new home with me.
     src=

  • I love this fall themed stationary from little brown pen
     src=

  • ColumbiaLily has some super fun bags in her store. I'm digging this wiffleball bag for the gym! (I'm having a t-shirt quilt made by this fantastically talented former co-teacher)
     src=

  • These scrabble tile pendants have tons of possibilities. It's all about the print has a plethora to choose from.
  • src=
  • Or if you're feeling adventurous, try making your own.

Other highlights from the weekend:

Had a Friday Night Lights shoot. Will post pictures later.

The young un's baseball team won their first game on Saturday.

Saints football is on today! Who Dat?

P.S. Amanda from My Remodeled Life is giving away a super cute apron to celebrate her bloggy birthday. Go say hi for your chance to win!

P.P.S. The saucy ladies at SITS are giving away a cricut expressions machine. I would love to have one of these for all my classroom needs (hello cute bulletin boards!) and for the vinyl lettering craze. If you're feeling lucky, stop by and comment. You have until October 1st to enter.

Lights! Camera! Action!

For the past 3 nights the young un and I found ourselves back in one of our favorite places, Dillon, TX, to do what we do best...yell and scream at a football game. But not just any football game. This football game was the season premier of Friday Night Lights and we were just two of the many, many Dillon faithful packed into the stands on a *warm* Texas evening. Why do we do this? Two reasons:

Jesse Plemons a.k.a Landry Clark

Zach Gilford a.k.a Matt Sarecen

(okay, so I maybe I go for three reasons....)

Kyle Chandler a.k.a Coach Eric Taylor src=

We worked several episodes last season as extras and actually spotted ourselves in a handful of scenes. It is such a fun time and I have met some very interesting people sitting in bleachers for 8 hours at a time. There is a lot of time just spent sitting around waiting--waiting to check in, waiting for wardrobe, waiting for the camera to be re-loaded, waiting for t-shirts--and the finished product may only be 5-10 seconds. The young un loves the fact that he can earn a paycheck for banging thundersticks and jumping up and down. And they totally won him over with the free concessions (though dealing with a kid hopped up on tootsie roll pops and nerds is not a task I enjoy). Really, how often does someone get the chance to work on a TV series? We love taking a break from our "normal" lives and hanging out with the cast and crew. We love it so much we are imploring, nay, pleading with you to watch the show this season! It's a great show, but it just can't find it's niche. I may even have a little FNL trivia contest to celebrate the premier on Oct 1st (for Direct TV customers)...if you don't have Direct TV it will run on NBC in the spring. Check back if you think you know your Dillon Football!
